• Unix Network Engineer (43362) Network/Telecom USA-ME-Kittery Security Clearance : Secret Clearance Status : Must be Obtainable Schedule : Full Time Shift : 1st Type of Travel : Continental US Percent of Travel Required : Up to 10% Description Duties and Responsibilities: Provide on-site background, expertise, and experience in planning, ordering, designing, installing, configuring, repairing, recovering, system monitoring, and performance tuning, of Unix systems, an IBM SAN, and an IBM tape library system at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard (PNS)
• Ongoing responsibilities include: * OS Administration -- AIX, Solaris, and Redhat Linux operating systems. Administration includes the study and application of Information Assurance Vulnerability Action (IAVA) directives, Security Technical Information Guides (STIGs)/Security Readiness Review Evaluation Scripts (SRRs) * Server Tools -- Configuration, administration, support, troubleshooting, and installing system security patches / hot-fixes for an IBM SAN, a Unix-based Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM), Net Backup, and DNS. * Hardware Administration -- IBM Shark ESS 2105-F20/800ESS, IBM 3584 LTO Tape Library, ED6064 McData Switches using EFCM, IBM H80/6F1/6E3 Storage Manager Server, a Net Appliance V3020 device, and SUN Systems including E6800, V240, V440, V480, and V490 servers * Support includes the migration, update and changes to new software and devices in the future to meet PNS/Navy initiatives
• * Reviewing tasks, issues and recommend changes to reduce problem reoccurrences * Performing server support, network administration functions, and Automated Information Systems assistance
• * Configuring network and server software, hardware and peripheral devices to resolve network issues
• * Providing performance metrics, work load status update, and project status updates at weekly workload tracking meetings
• This task will occur in a mixed environment requiring ancillary support of Windows 2003, Citrix Terminal Server, and Net Appliance devices
• Ancillary support may include providing Windows systems administration including installing system security patches, hot-fixes, and possible desk-side problem solving
• This support includes the migration, update, and changes to new software and devices in the future to meet PNS/Navy initiatives
• Some after hours support work may be required for the implementation of upgrades into the live environment and a duty phone with a one hour call-back requirement is shared across the team
• Required Qualifications: Candidates must have a Bachelor's degree (in Computer Science, Math or Engineering) or equivalent experience, and five to seven years of related networking experience

• 2 or above environment as well as installed client software * Sun Server/IBM SAN and Solaris 10 * Configuration of SAN fiber channel environment including McData switches, IBM Tape storage, and Tivoli management systems * SUN hardware/software environment including the writing of scripts, configuration of RAID arrays and other new devics Finally, candidates must maintain an IAT Level II certification as described in DOD mandate 8570: GSEC, Security+, SCNP, or SSCP along with the corresponding industry standard technical accreditations
• Desired Qualifications: * A technical professional that works well in a team environment * 2-4 Years experience as technical lead * Former military experience or work experience as contractor or civil servant with US Navy, Naval Shiyards, or other military installation
• * Systems Adminsitration experience within the Navy Marine Corps Intranet (NMCI) environment
• * Technical Writing experience * Experience Active Directory, Net Appliance devices, IAVAs/STIGs/SSRs
